Unincorporated Business Organization Trust
UBOT. The UBOT contains the desirable and essential elements of the Common Law Trust, Pure Trust and Massachusetts business trust (MBT) which is a legal trust set up for the purposes of doing business, but not necessarily one that is operated in the state of Massachusetts. A Massachusetts Trust may also be referred to as an Unincorporated Business Organization Trust or UBOT. Business trusts may be established under the laws of other U.S. states. The UBOT can be revocable or irrevocable at your discretion. For more details on the UBOT see the Navigation Box below. Many businesses are formed as MBTs and UBOTs to mitigate taxation; mutual funds in the U.S. are often structured as MBTs, though sometimes they are organized as Maryland corporations (or other states such as Minnesota). More recently, a Delaware statutory trust or DST has become a popular form of organization.
During the last century and through the mid years of this century the tax laws and State regulations strongly favored corporate structures, tightening of these laws in the past 10–15 years have resulted in the resurgence of the use of the UBOT. (referenced from Wikipedia)
Government Corporation
The UBOT trust would be the perfect vehicle for city and government agencies. After all while they think and act as though they are owners of the cities or cities acting as corporations they are in actuality custodians or trustees of the public's property. Wouldn't the cities operate better if they were trusts instead of statutory corporations?
